London (Bus) Stop Flags.

Various bus and Green Line coach stop flags as seen around the London area.

Many of these are historic images which were photographed in the 1980's. Unless otherwise stated very little area information is known - although sometimes it is possible for the knowledgeable to guess from the route numbers shown.

Mostly these images were sourced from 35mm slide (transparency) film, although a few were taken using 126 film and modern digital cameras. Alas some images are a little scratched and / or show the effects of mould or other growth on the films.

Closed-Bus-Stop. Clements Road Ilford, March 2008.
The road was closed for major road works. When it re-opened it became a 'bus-only' road (despite previously having been a well-used and designated route for local traffic after the High Road was pedestrianised) and the speed limit was slashed by 33% - down from 30mph to 20mph.

This sign and 'pole' are located at the East Anglia Transport Museum near to Lowestoft in Suffolk. This living museum features working trams and trolleybuses from various towns and cities in Britain & Europe, plus a miniature railway and other mostly transport-related exhibits. The trolleybus seen here is No. 260, it has an AEC 664T chassis, Metro Cammell H40/30R bodywork, dates from 1936 and comes from London.
More information about the EATM can be found at its website - http://www.eatm.org.uk/ (link to an external site which opens in anew window).

Bus-Stop-Composite. This is the bus stop flag montage as is also used on the Nostalgia page - from which this page was (probably) accessed.

The six images below come from a collection of approx 3" enamel signs which were bought in a 'flea market' at transport event many years ago. It is not remembered whether there were also red bus versions; even if there were none were purchased.
